How does 9-1-1 calling via Wired Nation differ from traditional telephone services?

With traditional 9-1-1 service, your call is sent directly to the nearest emergency response centre, and your call-back number and address are typically displayed automatically to the operator.

With Wired Nation’s VoIP-based 9-1-1 service, your call is first routed to a national emergency call centre. The operator may not automatically see your call-back number or registered address, so you will be asked to confirm your location.

The call centre operator will then transfer your call to the emergency response centre closest to your location.

When placing a 9-1-1 call, you should be prepared to provide:
  1. Your name
  2. Your address
  3. Your call-back number
Do not hang up unless you are instructed to do so by the operator.
