What happens to 9-1-1 calling during a power or broadband outage?
9-1-1 calling through Wired Nation will not function during a power outage, broadband outage, or if your internet service is disconnected.
Because the service relies on an active internet connection and electrical power, any interruption may prevent you from making emergency calls.
To help maintain service during a power outage, it is recommended to connect your internet modem and networking equipment to a battery backup (UPS).
We also strongly recommend having an alternate way to contact emergency services, such as a mobile phone, in case of an outage.
