Caller ID Filtering
Overview
Caller ID Filtering allows you to control how incoming calls are handled based on the caller’s number.
You can create multiple filters to:
- Block unwanted calls
- Redirect VIP callers
- Customize call experiences
Accessing Caller ID Filtering
- Navigate to Caller ID Filtering
- Select Add New Caller ID Filtering (Tab)
How Caller ID Filtering Works
Each filter:
- Matches incoming Caller ID based on defined criteria
- Applies a specific routing action when matched
Filter Criteria Options
You can create rules based on:
- Anonymous Caller ID
- Invalid North American Numbers (NPANXXXXXX format)
- Custom Caller ID Numbers or Patterns
Common Use Cases
1. Blocking Unwanted Callers
- Match a specific number
- Route to:
- “Number not in service” recording
- Followed by disconnect tone
2. VIP Call Routing
- Match important client numbers
- Route calls directly to:
- Mobile phone
- Dedicated line
3. Area Code Filtering
- Example: Block or redirect calls from area code 214
- Route to:
- Custom message with alternate contact number
Using Wildcards for Pattern Matching
Wildcards allow flexible matching of Caller IDs.
Matching Examples
(Assume Caller ID: 2145550000)
2145550000214*214XXX0000214XXXXXXX214XXX00*
These patterns WILL match
Non-Matching Examples
214XXX7*214XXX
These patterns will NOT match
Best Practices
- Use specific filters for VIP clients
- Use wildcard filters cautiously to avoid unintended matches
- Test filters after creation to confirm expected behavior
